At its forty-third session (2010) the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) requested its Secretariat to convene a colloquium with a view to identifying a roadmap for future work by the Commission in the area of electronic commerce, with particular regard to legal issues relating to electronic transferable records, identity management and the use of mobile devices in electronic commerce, as well as to discussing recent developments in the area of cross-border electronic single window facilities (see Official Records of the General Assembly, Sixty-fifth Session, Supplement No. 17 (A/65/17), para. 250). In line with that request, an international colloquium organized by the Secretariat will take place from 14 to 16 February 2011 at United Nations Headquarters in New York. Although the meeting will be conducted on an informal basis, interpretation in the six official languages of the United Nations will be available.
Please note that participants to the colloquium need to collect a grounds pass from the United Nations Pass and ID Office in order to access the UN building. The Pass and ID Office is located on the ground floor of the "UNITAR Building", 801 UN Plaza, at 45th Street and 1st Avenue (the entrance is on First Avenue). Participants will need to present a passport in order to have the grounds pass released.
The Pass and ID Office is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Venue of the Colloquium: North Lawn Building (NLB) conference room 2
