Visitors have sometimes reported difficulties in downloading UNCITRAL documents from the UNCITRAL web site.
The vast majority of UNCITRAL documents available on the UNCITRAL web site are posted via a link to the central United Nations Official Documents System (ODS), as requested by United Nations web posting guidelines. When a visitor clicks on a link to a document, the UNCITRAL web site sends a request to the ODS web site to deliver this document in PDF format in a new window of the visitor's browser.
The ODS requires an UNICODE-compliant web browser. Moreover, United Nations documents are currently posted in PDF format in a standard equivalent to Adobe Acrobat 6 or above. Visitors are kindly requested to ensure that their machines have a browser and a PDF reader compatible with these standards. More information on ODS standards may be found on the ODS web site FAQ page.
Occasionally, the above-described technology might not function properly due to the security settings on the visitor's machine, and the ODS web site may show the following notice: "No authorization - In case you use personal firewall, please adjust the privacy settings for this web site". In this case, visitors may wish to disable the personal firewall to allow access to the ODS. Alternatively, we suggest trying to access the document from a machine with different security settings or from a machine located in a different network, if available.
Visitors may also retrieve UNCITRAL documents directly from the ODS web site by typing the document symbol in the "Simple search" page. A guide to UNCITRAL documents symbols is available on the UNCITRAL web site.
A number of documents are available in the ODS both in PDF and Word format. In case of difficulties in viewing PDF documents, we suggest downloading Word documents, when available. You may find further information on how to retrieve documents from the ODS in the ODS web site help page.
Finally, in case the above should not assist, please report the problem to the UNCITRAL Secretariat indicating the document number and language version, the web page where the document is located, the date and time of the failed access and any other relevant information.
We thank you in advance for your kind cooperation.
